TUL Corporation ha annunciato una ulteriore variante della sua video card Radeon R9 290X, e più in dettaglio la soluzione high-end denominata PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X.

Questa scheda grafica è pensata per lavorare al meglio con le risoluzioni video 4K ed è quindi equipaggiata con un frame buffer da 8GB, tale da vantare una capacità di memorizzazione pari al doppio rispetto a quanto previsto dalla specifica del design reference, e con un cooler basato sulla tecnologia proprietaria PCS+, che include tre ventole, due strutture lamellari in alluminio e cinque heat pipe in rame.

Il core grafico della gpu della PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X lavora fino a 1030MHz mentre il frame buffer, realizzato naturalmente con chip di RAM G-DDR5, a 1375MHz. L'interfaccia tra il processore grafico e la memoria on board è a 512-bit.

Oltre al cooler, che in accordo al produttore è più efficiente del 24% e più silenzioso del 17% rispetto al sistema di raffreddamento reference, TUL ha personalizzato anche lo stadio di alimentazione della scheda, facendo ricorso alla tecnologia Gold Power Kit, che ruota intorno a un design multi-fase e a un PWM digitale.

Il kit di connettori di uscita della Radeon PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X di TUL è composto da due porte DVI-D dual-link, una HDMI e una DisplayPort.

The new PCS+ model utilizes 8GB of GDDR5 memory with 2816 stream processors. The larger 8GB frame buffer caters to latest applications and games that are getting more memory intensive. Clocks speeds are 1030MHz for the core and 1375MHz for the memory, which is connected via a new high speed 512-bit memory interface delivering excellent performance. To maintain higher OC performance with stability, PowerColor uses their own exclusive Gold Power Kit, including a Digital PWM to decrease the ripple and enhance power efficiency; the PowIRstage enables the Peak Efficiency up to 93.2% and the Multi Phases Design can enhance power efficiency and stability.

The newest PCS+ R9 290X is armed with PowerColor’s exclusive PCS+ triple fan design, which combines three 8015 fans, two sets of aluminum cooling fin and a total of 5 heat pipes. This offers gamer superb cooling performance that is 24% cooler and 17% quieter than ref. design.
