Club 3D ha annunciato la video card Radeon R9 285 royalQueen, una soluzione basata sulla gpu AMD Radeon R9 285 (nome in codice: Tonga Pro) di AMD ed equipaggiata con 2GB di RAM G-DDR5, attraverso la quale è possibile giocare utilizzando risoluzioni video che superano la soglia dei 1080p per entrare nella dimensione 4K.

Dotata di un'interfaccia verso il mondo di tipo PCI Express 3.0, la Radeon R9 285 royalQueen supporta le configurazioni multi-gpu basate sulla tecnologia Quad CrossFire e le librerie grafiche DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.3 e OpenCL 1.2.

Il core grafico della gpu lavora fino a 945 MHz mentre il frame buffer, che scambia dati con il processore grafico attraverso un bus a 256-bit, opera a 5500MHz in termini di velocità effettiva.

Il sistema di raffreddamento della Radeon R9 285 royalQueen è basato sulla tecnologia Club 3D CoolStream e include un'ampia struttura lamellare in alluminio, heat pipe in rame e due ventole.

Il kit di porte di uscita della Radeon R9 285 royalQueen è composto da una DVI-D dual-link, una DVI-I dual-link, una HDMI 1.4a e una DisplayPort 1.2.

The Radeon R9 285 is AMD's first discreet GPU with a redesigned fixed-funtion decoder (UVD - Unified Video Decoder) that supports full hardware decode of 4K H.264 videos. This next generation UVD supports H.264 base, main and high profile, up to level 5.2. The primary benefit of having a fixed-function decoder, especially for high bit-rate 4K content, is the significantly reduced CPU utilization. This results in a more responsive system and more importantly, the system will not exhibit any skipped frames during playback.
