Con il seguente comunicato stampa, AMD ha confermato il suo impegno in relazione al supporto dei Sistemi Operativi Microsoft della corrente e della prossima generazione, enfatizzando in particolare la creazione e la conseguente disponibilità di driver in grado di permettere la configurazione e l'utilizzo del proprio hardware (come tablet, netbook, PC e Server AMD-based) con il prossimo Windows 8 di Microsoft.
Ma non solo: come da tradizione la collaborazione tra Advanced Micro Devices e MS è molto intensa, e i due giganti stanno lavorando in sinergia per la realizzazione di piattaforme hardware di nuova generazione in grado di ottimizzare e massimizzare le prestazioni di Windows 8.
AMD ha inoltre elencato le attuali linee di prodotti in grado di lavorare al meglio anche in ambiente Windows 8, ovvero le APU AMD Z-Series, C-Series, E-Series e A-Series, le schede grafiche e gpu AMD FirePro e Radeon (anche in versione embedded per i sistemi mobile), e le cpu Opteron 6000 e Opteron 4000.
Inoltre anche i processori a 8 core della linea AMD FX Black Edition, dedicati ai desktop high-end, supportano Windows 8; e un discorso analogo vale per le APU "Krishna" e "Trinity", ideate per i notebook e pianificate per il prossimo anno.

Along with the broad range of computing platforms and processors available this year from AMD, products slated for next year include two new notebook PC APUs codenamed "Krishna" and "Trinity". The "Trinity" APU, which will be based on the "Bulldozer" x86 core with support for UVD and DirectX 11 for brilliant graphics, is expected to consume less than half the power of today’s lowest power AMD A-Series APU, bringing performance computing to ultrathin notebooks, with software drivers optimized for Windows 8. Continued enhancements to the low-power PC platform based on AMD C-Series and E-Series APU families also are expected, building on the tremendous success of these products.
